The Kalideres Terminal Management Unit and the Kalideres Police Sector, West Jakarta, distributed 1,100 free masks to passengers, bus crew and agents, as well as SMEs in the terminal area.

Head of Kalideres Terminal Management Unit, Nur Prasetyo said the masks distribution is aimed to minimize the medical impacts caused by exposure to volcanic ash from the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau which occurred last Friday (9/4).

"Perhaps not everyone understands the negative impacts, which is why we still see people at the Kalideres Terminal not wearing masks. Therefore, distributing masks also serves as a form of public awareness," he said, Monday (9/7).

He explained that his rank has distributed 500 masks since Sunday (9/6). Today, a total of 600 masks were distributed free to the public.

It is hoped that this mitigation effort will increase public awareness and anticipation when carrying out outdoor activities, especially at the Kalideres Terminal.

"We urge the public not to panic and to remain vigilant. Maintain health and safety by wearing a mask and eye protection during outdoor activities, and monitor official government information," he appealed.
