The Rawa Barat Urban Village, Kebayoran Baru District, South Jakarta, distributed 500 free masks to the public in several locations with densely populated areas.
Head of Rawa Barat Urban Village, Merinta Hendri Purnomo said the distribution of masks was carried out together with the urban village officials and the Satpol PP to residents who visited or passed by the urban village office.
Distributed in public and social facilities
"Masks were also distributed in public and social facilities. This effort was held as a form of concern and to anticipate the impact of Anak Krakatau's volcanic ash on public health," he said, Monday (9/7).
Merinta explained that, in addition to distributing masks, the Rawa Barat Urban Village Satpol PP officers also reminded residents to wear masks when carrying out outdoor activities.
"We are following government guidance and information regarding the spread of volcanic ash. If the situation remains unfavorable, we will continue to implement similar measures over the next few days," he explained.
Meanwhile, Head of Rawa Barat Urban Village Satpol PP, Dulhalim stated his party conveyed a humane appeal to people passing by, both motorized vehicle users and pedestrians.
This appeal primarily relates to the importance of wearing a mask when carrying out outdoor activities as an effort to protect health from exposure to volcanic ash.
"We received a positive response from residents. They were willing to follow the recommendation to wear masks when doing outdoor activities," he admitted.
