The Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) is urging residents to prepare for potential meteorological drought in several parts of Jakarta from September 1-10, 2026.

All areas of Jakarta except South Jakarta

Meteorological drought refers to a period when rainfall in an area falls below normal levels.

Jakarta BPBD Acting Head Marulitua Sijabat said the meteorological drought early warning, based on information from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG), applies to nearly all areas of Jakarta, which are currently under the alert category.

"All areas of Jakarta except South Jakarta," he said on Friday (9/4).

Marulitua urged residents to prepare for the potential impacts of drought by conserving clean water and using it wisely. Residents are also encouraged to keep a supply of water on hand if needed and monitor weather updates and early warnings from BMKG and Jakarta BPBD.

Residents are also reminded not to burn waste or set fire to open areas and to check electrical installations and stoves to prevent potential hazards during dry conditions.

"Jakarta BPBD urges residents to remain vigilant about the potential impacts of drought. In an emergency, residents can contact the Jakarta Siaga 112 service," he emphasized.
