The Kramat Jati Lokbin arrangement on Jalan Raya Bogor is nearing the finish line, with completion set for today. This initiative aims to house 193 sidewalk vendors from the Kramat Jati Market area, effectively clearing the pedestrian paths while providing traders with a designated, official space.

By Sunday evening, the lokbin arrangement was already 85 percent complete, according to East Jakarta Mayor Munjirin.

"I personally checked the site last night. We're just finalizing the lighting and fixing the restroom doors. Aside from those minor details, the facility is ready for use," he expressed, Monday (8/31).

Munjirin emphasized that proper lighting is a critical requirement for the location, given that the majority of vendors—selling fish, shellfish, crabs, and other seafood—operate primarily at night.

"Fish vendors who were previously trading on the sidewalk are now required to move into the designated stalls prepared at the Kramat Jati Lokbin," he explained.

East Jakarta Small and Medium Enterprises and Cooperatives Sub-agency (PPKUKM) Head, Andi Ahmad Refi added the arrangement is a collaborative effort involving approximately 100 joint personnel from various regional government agencies (OPD).

"Yesterday’s operations included vendor registration, clearing out stalls, waste removal, sidewalk arrangement, area pressure washing, drain cleaning, waste hauling, painting road median railings, and the construction of new sidewalks," he detailed.

To ensure fairness, a lottery system was used to assign stalls to the traders. This step was taken to maintain order and prevent a scramble for prime spots. This transparent process is key to a smooth transition.

"Vendors can commence their trading activities as early as tonight. We have ensured that the infrastructure is well-equipped to support their needs," he stated.
