A member of Commission B of the Jakarta City Council (DPRD), Francine Widjojo, supports the operation of the Jakarta LRT’s Kelapa Gading–Manggarai route. According to her, the service will expand public transport options while facilitating the mobility of Jakarta residents.

Nevertheless, Francine urged Jakarta LRT not to remain dependent on regional budget subsidies. She encouraged the operator to boost revenue while simultaneously attracting more passengers.

"In addition to increasing passenger numbers, integration between pedestrians and public transport is also necessary to ensure easy access and connectivity," she said, Thursday (8/27).

Francine assessed that the current passenger volume on the Jakarta LRT’s Kelapa Gading–Velodrome route remains unoptimal. In her view, one aspect requiring evaluation is the number and capacity of the train sets being used.

"Compared to the MRT, it has far more cars, and the capacity of each car is also greater. The LRT has a smaller scope and fewer cars, meaning it transports fewer passengers per trip," he explained.

Therefore, Francine has asked LRT Jakarta to evaluate its trainset requirements, including considering increasing the number of cars to boost passenger capacity in line with future service needs.

She also emphasized the importance of user safety and comfort. Intermodal integration needs to be strengthened so that the public can easily transfer between the LRT, MRT, Transjakarta, and JakLingko services.

"The public should not face mobility challenges due to access points being too distant or difficult to reach. The LRT, MRT, Transjakarta, and JakLingko systems must be interconnected to ensure seamless and convenient mobility for the public," she emphasized.
