Jakarta is moving forward as a global city, but it’s making sure its seniors are leading the way.

The Jakarta government has once again emphasized its dedication to providing full attention and high-quality services to the elderly.

While attending a vibrant healthy walk and health seminar at the Southeast Monas area on Wednesday (8/26), People's Welfare Assistant, Ali Maulana Hakim spoke about the city’s inclusive future. The event, which celebrated Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day, saw hundreds of enthusiastic seniors from all corners of the city.

According to him, being a global player means more than just economic growth—it means upholding the value of inclusivity.

"Our mission is to ensure that all seniors can enjoy the city’s public services and facilities to the fullest. In Jakarta, no one gets left behind," he expressed.

Jakarta’s commitment to its seniors is backed by real action:

• Social Protection: The Jakarta Elderly Card (KLJ) provides essential support.

• Free Mobility: Registered seniors enjoy complimentary access to the MRT, LRT, and TransJakarta.

"It’s about making the city accessible and supportive for every generation," he explained.

He went on to say that reaching one's golden years is not a final chapter, nor is it a burden. Instead, he believes that age is never an excuse to stop thriving.

"We must keep moving, keep caring for our bodies, and most importantly, keep our social spirits alive," he urged.

Ali hoped this initiative could be more than just an event—but a space for education and a bridge that connects different generations.

"May the seniors of Jakarta continue to live with vitality and independence. I want to see them happy and healthy, knowing that their wisdom and contributions still hold great value for their families and our society," he hoped.
