Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung recently shared his gratitude for the Madurese community’s unwavering support and its vital role in building a better capital.

Attending the inauguration ceremony for IKAMA’s regional boards at City Hall on Wednesday (8/19), Pramono highlighted how Madurese entrepreneurs and workers have helped propel Jakarta’s economic growth to an impressive 5.52%—a figure that stands proudly above the national average.

My mission is simple: the underprivileged must not be forgotten

Beyond economics, he expressed his admiration for the cultural values of the Madurese people, specifically the philosophy of Bhuppa Bhabhu Ghuru Rato. This teaching, which fosters reverence for parents, educators, and leadership, is seen as a pillar of social harmony.

"Such strong solidarity and character are what make IKAMA a powerful force in driving Jakarta’s progress forward," he expressed.

At that occasion, the Jakarta government is taking concrete steps to support the Madurese community, including the provision of ambulances to ensure no one struggles to reach medical care.

Pram reaffirmed that quality healthcare is a right for all, supported by the city's 31 regional hospitals and over 300 community health centers.

Meanwhile, the city’s educational safety net remains strong, offering aid through the KJP and KJMU programs, as well as initiatives to clear unpaid school fees and provide free access to private education.

"My mission is simple: the underprivileged must not be forgotten. Whether it is education or healthcare, we must ensure every citizen has the support they need to thrive," he stated.

He further invited all segments of society, including the Madurese community, to play an active role in ensuring Jakarta remains a safe, stable, and conducive environment for all.

Madurese Family Association (IKAMA) Chairperson, Muhammad Rawi highlighted that the Madurese community is already deeply involved in Jakarta’s educational landscape.

He noted that IKAMA’s initiatives are perfectly aligned with the Jakarta government’s priority to develop high-quality human resources.

"Thankfully, the Governor’s free private school program has been a game-changer for us. Nearly 1,000 of our students in various Islamic and vocational schools have been supported, showing how well our community’s efforts align with the government’s priorities," he stated.

On the economic front, Rawi pointed out that Madurese entrepreneurs are key players in Jakarta's economy through their vibrant MSMEs and cooperatives.

"These efforts provide much-needed support for the city’s economic stability. With our cooperative roots dating back to 1991, we invite the government to involve us in shaping future MSME strategies," he added.

He reaffirmed that the partnership between IKAMA and the Jakarta government remains ironclad, dedicated to building a better and more orderly capital.

"It is essential for the Madurese community to be at the forefront of supporting government initiatives that drive prosperity for everyone in Jakarta," he stated.
