Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung, attended the inauguration ceremony of the Jakarta Forum of Ulama and Habaib (FUHAB) at the Jakarta International Velodrome, East Jakarta, Tuesday (8/18).
In his remarks, Pramono emphasized the importance of maintaining a strong relationship between the ulama (religious leaders) and the umara (government). He stated, such synergy is a key reflection of effective governance.
Events like this will certainly make life in Jakarta even more comfortable and vibrant
He also expressed his appreciation for the various activities organized by religious leaders in Jakarta. He expressed confidence that these initiatives contribute to creating a more harmonious and conducive social environment for the community.
"Events like this will certainly make life in Jakarta even more comfortable and vibrant," he expressed.
He went on to say that Jakarta currently holds the highest Human Development Index (HDI) in Indonesia, followed by the Special Region of Yogyakarta. This achievement, he added, proves that Jakarta continues to thrive despite facing significant urban complexity and high dynamics.
"Why am I sharing this? It demonstrates that even though Jakarta is complex and its dynamics are challenging, the provincial government, together with all elements of society, has succeeded in making Jakarta a much better place. This is especially true regarding religious life," he stated.
Pramono also expressed his gratitude for the strong relationship established between the Jakarta government and the ulama. He assessed that the government's openness and transparency in communicating with various stakeholders have contributed to maintaining Jakarta's stability amidst global economic pressures.
"Hopefully, we can continue to preserve these conditions," he concluded.
Meanwhile, Central Board (DPP) Chairperson for FUHAB Jakarta, KH Muhammad Luthfi Zawawi, added that the inauguration marks the confirmation of the board members for the 2026-2031 term.
He explained that the organizational structure is being strengthened not only at the central level but also down to the sub-districts and urban villages. All 44 sub-districts and 267 urban villages across Jakarta now have established FUHAB leadership boards.
The ceremony also included the inauguration of the Regional Boards (DPW) in five administrative cities and Seribu Islands. Further, FUHAB branches in satellite regions—including Greater Bogor, Greater Bekasi, Greater Tangerang, and Depok—were also officially confirmed.
According to Luthfi, this organizational expansion serves as a pivotal moment for FUHAB to enhance its contributions to social welfare, education, and religious outreach (dakwah).
"This inauguration will serve as a gateway for the Forum of Ulama and Habaib to strive in delivering our best contributions to the nation and the state, particularly for our beloved city, Jakarta," he added.
In the future, FUHAB plans to strengthen programs aimed at preventing various social issues within the community. One such initiative involves collaborating with the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) to provide education and prevent drug abuse at every level, from urban villages to the municipal scale.
Additionally, FUHAB will assist in disseminating information regarding several Jakarta government programs, including public education on waste segregation in residential areas.
Luthfi hoped that all FUHAB board members would work in synergy with the government and other civil society organizations to ensure Jakarta remains an advanced, modern, global, and cultured city with a strong moral foundation.
"Together, let us protect this beloved city so that it remains modern, global, advanced, and cultured, while upholding noble character," he concluded.
