A total of 21 Public Infrastructure and Facilities Handling (PPSU) personnel from Kebon Pala Urban Village, Makasar District, East Jakarta, were deployed to help clear debris following a fire that destroyed five houses on Jalan Perindustrian, RT 06/07.

Cleanup activities have been underway since Sunday (9/8), the day after the fire broke out on Saturday (8/8) at approximately 2:41 PM. In addition to PPSU personnel, local residents also joined in the collective effort to clear away the burnt building debris.

Complete the cleanup today

Head of Kebon Pala Urban Village, Dian Eka Harianti said the deployment of PPSU personnel reflects the concern and sense of responsibility of the urban village administration in assisting residents affected by the disaster.

"We have been working alongside the residents to clear away the debris left by the fire since yesterday," he said, Monday (8/10).

Head Section of Economy and Development for Kebon Pala Urban Village, Retno Ambarsari explained to support the cleaning process, two carts, a motorized cart, and an operational service vehicle were also deployed.

"We are aiming and striving to complete the cleanup today," she explained.

Retno stated that one of the challenges in the cleanup process was the narrow access road leading to the site. This condition prevented the use of large vehicles for transport, necessitating the use of carts to move materials in stages.

Meanwhile, Head of RW 07 of Kebon Pala Urban Village, Arif Rifa'i appreciated the assistance given by local urban village in assisting local residents.

According to him, aid from various agencies has also been received and immediately distributed to the affected residents. Currently, residents whose homes burned down are still sheltering in the RW 07 Secretariat hall.

"We have also set up a communal kitchen to meet the residents' food and beverage needs while they are at the evacuation site," he admitted.

He hopes that residents whose homes were affected by the fire can receive assistance through the East Jakarta Baznas Bazis home renovation program. This assistance is considered crucial for enabling the homes to be repaired and made fit for habitation once again.
