The Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) continues to increase preparedness for the dry season, which is characterized by hotter air temperatures and minimal rainfall.

Although the current phenomenon is part of the dry season, the Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) is still taking various anticipatory measures to minimize the risks that may arise.

Head of Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Marulitua Sijabat, said that his agency routinely monitors weather and climate information based on data from the BMKG, as a basis for formulating anticipatory measures during the dry season.

The BPBD Agency is also strengthening coordination with various regional agencies, including the Fire and Rescue Agency (Gulkarmat), the Health Agency, the Water Resources Agency, PAM Jaya, and city and district administration governments to ensure preparedness in facing the potential impacts of the dry season.

Maruli explained that his team is also increasing awareness of potential fires, both building and land fires, by monitoring vulnerable areas and educating the public to avoid activities that could trigger fires.

"We also prepare a clean water distribution support mechanism if there are areas experiencing difficulties in accessing clean water based on the results of the assessment and coordination with relevant agencies," he said, Tuesday (8/4).

Jakarta BPBD is optimizing the Jakarta Siaga 112 service so that the public can immediately report any emergency conditions during the dry season.

Jakarta BPBD then urges the public to limit outdoor activities during high temperatures, maintain adequate fluid intake, use personal protective equipment such as hats or umbrellas when outdoors, conserve clean water, and refrain from littering or burning trash as this can increase the risk of fire.

"By increasing vigilance and implementing preventive measures, it is hoped that various risks that may arise during the dry season can be minimized," he stated.
