Two connecting channels on Jalan Kelapa Dua Wetan and Jalan PKP, Tuesday (8/4), were cleaned by dozens of joint officers from Ciracas District, East Jakarta.

This community cleanup effort was led by the District Head, Panangaran Ritonga. A backhoe was deployed to remove trash and mud.

Dumped on vacant land

Panangaran stated that the community service was carried out because the sedimentation in the two connecting channels was very thick, around 30-50 centimeters. Even below the culvert from the Jabin Connecting Channel to the Rawa Babon Reservoir, the sedimentation reached 50 centimeters, with weeds growing on top.

"The community service resulted in 16 cubic meters of sediment being transported by dump trucks in four trips. All of it was dumped on vacant land in the Rambutan Reservoir area," he stated.

Community service was focused on this location due to the extremely thick sedimentation. There were concerns that if left untreated, it would trigger flooding during the rainy season.

Around 50 joint personnel were deployed from the urban village and district levels, Transportation, Water Resources, City Parks and Forests, Transportation, Public Works, PPSU, Satpol PP and Fire Handling and Rescue.

"One fire engine was deployed to the location to spray the mud that was scattered on the road during the lifting process using heavy equipment to the dump truck," he added.
