Jakarta City Council Commission B Chairman, Nova Harivan Paloh expressed his appreciation for the consultative forum titled 'Building Jakarta: Central and Regional Synergy Towards Jakarta’s New Era,' which brought together members of the MPR, DPR, DPD, and the Jakarta government.
According to him, the forum is a crucial milestone for addressing the city's development challenges, particularly the funding shortfall caused by the central government’s withheld Revenue Sharing Funds (DBH).
The city urgently needs alternative funding sources
He noted that the delay of approximately Rp 15 trillion in DBH has impacted priority programs, including school construction.
"The city urgently needs alternative funding sources, and regional bonds are a viable option to explore," he expressed, Monday (8/3).
Nova hoped that members of DPR, specifically those on the Budget Committee (Banggar), would champion the release of the withheld DBH.
He noted that central legislators have the platform to speak directly with Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa regarding Jakarta’s essential needs for public services.
"We hope our colleagues in the DPR can push for a swift resolution to this DBH issue, ensuring that development and public services in Jakarta continue to operate seamlessly," he concluded.
