Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung is taking a stand against the theft of fire hydrant components, calling for immediate and severe legal action against those responsible.
Labeling the crime as a direct threat to public safety, Pramono urged law enforcement and city agencies to prosecute looters to the fullest extent of the law.
Take firm action against these activities
"I truly expect and demand that both law enforcement and the related units take firm action against these activities," he stated, during his visit to Ciangir, Friday (7/31).
He confirmed he has received multiple reports of fire hydrants being stripped of their parts in several parks and public buildings across Jakarta. In response, he has issued a direct order to Satpol PP and the Fire Department to heighten security and surveillance.
"I have officially instructed Satpol PP and related units, especially the Fire and Rescue Agency, to keep a close watch on these facilities. They must be constantly monitored and guarded," he asserted.
With the team, he has moved swiftly to repair the damage caused by the thefts, ensuring that any flooding or water wastage has been fully resolved.
"We did have an incident yesterday where water started overflowing, but fortunately, our team managed to shut it down immediately," he concluded.
