Eight personnel from the Pulo Gadung District Water Resources (SDA) Task Force, East Jakarta, cleaned the water channel around the outer fence at the Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) office of the Women and Children Protection Center (PPPA), Jalan Raya Bekasi, Jatinegara Kaum Urban Village.

Head of Pulo Gadung District Water Resources Unit, Didi Rusdiana said the cleaning of the one-meter-high channel was carried out because the mud had reached 30 centimeters, so that the channel's capacity was not optimal and could trigger flooding during the rainy season.

Completion by mid-August

"The condition of the water channels is already filled with sediment and debris. Therefore, they need to be cleaned during the dry season to prevent flooding during the rainy season," Didi said, Friday (7/31).

According to him, the cleaning of the channel, which is 500 meters long and 80 centimeters wide, is carried out manually by blue troop personnel by going down into the channel.

The rubbish and mud were cleaned and put into sacks to be disposed of in the East Flood Canal (KBT) area of Ujung Menteng, Cakung.

"Work has been underway for the past week. Currently, progress is around 60 percent. The target is completion by mid-August," he admitted.
