The Jakarta Cultural Agency has prepared various cultural agendas to welcome the commemoration of Jakarta's 5th Century next year.

The program focuses on cultural preservation, empowering artists, and strengthening Betawi cultural identity.

Head of Jakarta Cultural Agency, Mochamad Miftahulloh Tamary said his party proposed a budget of Rp 440.15 billion in the Draft General Policy of the Regional Budget and Temporary Budget Ceiling Priorities (KUA-PPAS) for the 2027 Fiscal Year.

According to him, the proposed budget is down by around Rp 24 billion, or 5.2 percent, compared to the 2026 budget ceiling for the Cultural Agency, which reached Rp 464.37 billion.

"In the second quarter of 2026, performance realization was only achieved in the regional government support program, with a Service Satisfaction Index of 100 percent. Meanwhile, the other three programs only had performance targets in the fourth quarter, so their realization cannot yet be measured," he said, Wednesday (7/29).

Miftahullah explained that in 2027, four activities will have their performance indicator targets adjusted namely cross-regional arts development, cross-regional cultural management, development of local provincial history, and management of provincial museums.

Moreover, the budget is also allocated for a number of management units, including the Jakarta Arts Center Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM), the Jakarta History Museum, the Betawi Cultural Village Area, the Jakarta Maritime Museum, the Art Museum, and the Cultural Arts Performance Building.

In terms of public aspirations, the agency accommodated 347 of the 518 proposals resulting from the City Council recess, or around 66.99 percent.

"A total of 15 proposals were accepted with notes, while 156 proposals could not be accommodated for various reasons such as duplication of proposals, recipients who had already received similar assistance, and incomplete applicant data," he explained.

To support the commemoration of Jakarta's 5th Century, the agency has also prepared a number of strategic activities, such as arts and culture training, tiered arts competitions, empowerment of artists, arts and culture festivals, preservation of cultural heritage, cultural diplomacy, cultural publications, and holding temporary museum exhibitions.

A number of large-scale cultural events will be held throughout 2027, including the Jakarta Open Stage, Betawi Festival, Jakarta Cultural Carnival, Sarendo Rendo Carnival, 500 Batik-wearing Ondel-Ondel Parade, Jakarta Indigenous Film Festival, International Jakarta Heritage Walk Tour, development of the Betawi Museum in Setu Babakan, revitalization of the Kota Intan Bridge, and revitalization of the stage design of the Jakarta Arts Building and Taman Ismail Marzuki Grand Theater (TIM).
