The Green Troop of the East Jakarta City Parks and Forestry Sub-agency pruned 10 shady trees in the backyard of the Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) office of the Women and Children Protection Center (PPPA), Jalan Raya Bekasi, Jatinegara Kaum Urban Village, Pulo Gadung District.

Carried out manually

Head of the Sub-agency, Dwi Ponangsera said the pruning was a follow-up to a proposal from the UPT PPPA. Several trees in the office area had become overgrown, posing a risk of falling and endangering the building and the surrounding environment.

"We deployed eight personnel on the topping team. The pruning process was carried out manually," he said, Wednesday (7/29).

Dwi explained that tree pruning activities in the UPT PPPA office area had also been carried out the previous week. At that time, his team had pruned 20 trees.

"All the pruning results are then disposed of at a temporary disposal site on Jalan TB Simatupang, Tanjung Barat, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta," he explained.

Meanwhile, Head of the Administrative Sub-Division of the UPT PPPA, Nurhayati appreciated the tree pruning.

The overgrowth of trees has also had a number of impacts on office facilities. Tree branches often damage building roofs and obscure lighting systems at night, making office areas darker.

"Roof tiles in office buildings also often leak due to being pushed by tree branches or broken branches," she admitted.
