The South Jakarta Region II Education Sub-agency aims for the construction of the SDN Cipete Utara 01 school building in Kebayoran Baru to be completed by September 2026.
South Jakarta Region II Education Sub-agency Head, Sarwoko stated that the project was originally slated for a six-month completion window. However, the building remains unfinished despite nearly a year of ongoing work.
We hope the project is completed on schedule
"The plan is for the school to resume teaching and learning activities (KBM) immediately upon completion," he expressed, Wednesday (7/29).
He explained that the project was initially intended solely for the construction of a new building for SDN Cipete Utara 01. However, during the implementation phase, plans shifted toward transforming the project into a mixed-use facility reaching up to 20 stories.
"At first, it was just a renovation or a new build for the school. Then, there was a push for a mixed-use concept, extending the building vertically up to 20 floors," he explained.
According to Sarwoko, the plans changed once again following a turnover of contractors. The work was eventually scaled back to focus solely on the school building. Nevertheless, the construction remained unfinished past the designated deadline.
"However, along the way, the contractor changed again to build only the elementary school. The timeframe has expired; it is already overdue," he added.
Following leadership directives, the building construction has been fast-tracked as a top priority. Meanwhile, the plan for a mixed-use development has been officially scrapped.
He ensured that teaching and learning activities remain uninterrupted throughout the construction process. While, students have been temporarily relocated to SDN Cipete Utara 09, situated about 1.6 kilometers from the original site.
"We hope the project is completed on schedule so that school operations can return to normal," he concluded.
