Public Infrastructure and Facilities Handling (PPSU) personnel from Untung Jawa Island Urban Village, South Seribu Islands, conducted repairs on Mangrove Road in RT 01/01 and the Mangrove Bridge in RT 03/03.
These repairs aim to enhance comfort and ensure the safety of both residents and tourists.
We will continue to keep a close watch on public amenities
Untung Jawa Island Urban Village Head, Muslim, stated that the repairs are a follow-up to resident reports regarding infrastructure damage in the area.
"Fifteen personnel were deployed to conduct manual repairs. Our primary focus is fixing the road affected by land subsidence and the damaged bridge," he expressed, Wednesday (7/29).
He explained that Mangrove Road has experienced land subsidence, which could pose a risk to road users if not addressed immediately.
"The repairs involve compacting the subgrade and resurfacing the damaged sections of the road," he explained.
The personnel are also refurbishing the Mangrove Bridge, which serves as the main gateway to the Jembatan Pengantin (Bride Bridge) tourist attraction.
The damage, including potholes and material degradation, was brought about by the structure’s age, exposure to extreme weather, seawater, and heavy foot traffic.
"We are recasting the damaged sections to restore the bridge’s structural integrity and ensure it is safe for passage once again," he continued.
He hoped the repairs would maintain the standard of the island's infrastructure and ensure smooth mobility across the area. Local authorities have also pledged to carry out regular inspections of public assets.
"We will continue to keep a close watch on public amenities. Should any damage be found, we will address it promptly to ensure that daily activities and tourism remain safe and pleasant," he concluded.
The repairs above received appreciation from RW 03 Chair in Untung Jawa Island Urban Village.
"This road and bridge are vital access routes used by residents every day, so these repairs are essential in ensuring the smooth flow of daily activities here," he emphasized.
