A Lintas Jaya operation conducted at two locations in East Jakarta on Tuesday (7/28) netted 14 vehicles found illegally parked on road shoulders during peak hours.
Because it causes traffic congestion and puts other road users at risk
Involving 36 joint personnel, the operation was carried out on Jalan Mayjen Sutoyo in Cawang, Kramat Jati Sub-district, and Jalan Pemuda in Jati Urban Village, Pulo Gadung Sub-district.
East Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency Zone B Towing Coordinator Saputra Afrijal said all of the vehicles caught in the operation were found to be in violation of parking regulations.
"We are taking firm action to deter illegal parking because it causes traffic congestion and puts other road users at risk," he said on Tuesday (7/28).
Saputra said the vehicles consisted of eight motorcycles and six cars. Four of the cars were towed, while the remaining two drivers received verbal and written warnings from officers.
He added that illegal parking enforcement had been carried out repeatedly at both locations. No-parking signs have also been installed to remind motorists not to park there.
"We will continue conducting illegal parking enforcement operations at these locations as well as other areas across East Jakarta," he emphasized.
According to Saputra, vehicles parked illegally, especially during peak hours, can disrupt traffic flow and contribute to congestion.
"We urge motorists to obey traffic regulations and avoid parking in prohibited areas," he said.
