The Jakarta Provincial Government has issued a stern warning to a private company for illegally dumping waste in the Penjaringan Green Open Space (RTH) area, North Jakarta.

The company is believed to have dumped around 700 cubic meters of waste collected from restaurants and office buildings at the site.

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said the city administration would pursue legal action if the company repeated the violation.

"We have issued a stern warning to the private company responsible for dumping waste in RTH Penjaringan. If it happens again, the Jakarta Provincial Government will take legal action," Pramono warned on Sunday (7/26).

Pramono added that he had instructed the Jakarta Environment Agency to remove the piles of waste at the Penjaringan Green Open Space in North Jakarta and another site in Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta.

"The cleanup is deploying around 15 to 20 truckloads each day, and we expect it to be completed within the next two weeks," he said.

The governor also called on Jakarta residents to help protect the environment by reporting similar incidents through the Jakarta Kini (JAKI) application.

"We hope residents will play an active role so that waste piles like those in Pasar Minggu and the Penjaringan Green Open Space do not happen again," he said.
