RW 03 in Tambora Urban Village, West Jakarta, has been proposed for ProKlim Pratama (Climate Village Program) status in recognition of residents' sustained efforts to green and improve their neighborhood.

Tambora Urban Village Head Muhammad Sidik said the proposal followed nearly three years of community-led greening initiatives, which over the past year expanded into broader environmental improvement efforts across all RTs in RW 03.

"The community's shared commitment to greening the neighborhood has transformed the area into a cleaner and more orderly place. They now even have a waste bank," he said on Friday (7/24).

In addition to greening efforts, RW 03 has promoted waste sorting at the source and improved waste management. The neighborhood has also established a PKK garden with funding from a state-owned bank's corporate social responsibility (CSR) program.

Sidik hopes RW 03's achievements will inspire other neighborhoods in Tambora. To support that effort, the urban village administration has promoted potted plant greening in RW 04 and is developing a model neighborhood park in RW 05 to demonstrate that even densely populated communities can become cleaner, greener, and more livable through collective action.

"RW 03 is one of our most densely populated neighborhoods, yet the residents have shown what's possible. That's why we've proposed it for ProKlim Pratama status, so it can inspire other communities," he emphasized.

Meanwhile, RT 06 Head Badai Timur said efforts to improve the neighborhood through greening had been carried out gradually, beginning with educating residents and leading by example to gain community support.

Today, nearly every household in the neighborhood participates in greening and cleanliness programs. In addition to growing plants in pots around their homes, residents have also developed urban farming through hydroponic racks and nutrition ponds.

"We're grateful for the support from the urban village and sub-district administrations, as well as the KPKP Agency. Going forward, we want to expand our productive crops and add more nutrition ponds," he said.
