The East Jakarta City Parks and Forestry Sub-agency planted 20 shade trees on Jalan Komodor Halim Perdanakusuma, Makasar District.
The activity, which was packaged through the Friday Planting program, was led directly by the Head of East Jakarta City Parks and Forestry Sub-agency, Dwi Ponangsera.
Beautiful and comfortable area
Dwi said that reforestation in the area needs to be continuously improved because there are still a number of empty plots of land that can be used for tree planting.
"The trees planted today consist of 10 Pink Tabebuia and 10 Buttercup," he said, Friday (7/24).
Dwi explained that the planting location has a strategic position because it is the access to Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, which is frequently passed by the public and state guests.
"The arrangement and greening along this route is an important part of creating a more beautiful and comfortable area," he added.
He stated that tree-planting activities will continue to be intensified in various locations in East Jakarta. Besides beautifying the environment, the trees is expected to make urban areas greener and shadier.
"This activity will continue to be intensified to make East Jakarta greener and cooler. It also helps maintain environmental balance and reduce air pollution," he stated.
