The Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung, said that the use of public transportation in Jakarta to support community mobility has shown a significant increase.

In the second quarter of 2026, the number of people using Transjakarta, the MRT, and the LRT reached 230.8 million, an increase of 9.7 percent year-on-year.

This was conveyed by Pramono at the Jakarta Budget Talks event with the theme Navigating the Jakarta Regional Budget: Strengthening Performance, Safeguarding Public Interests at the Balairung, Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday (7/22).

"So, that's a pretty significant increase, with nearly 93 percent of people using public transportation now. A 9.7 percent increase would be approaching 27, 28, or even almost 30 percent," said Pramono.

To encourage economic activity and public consumption, the Jakarta Provincial Government also provides various fiscal incentives for organizers of various events and so on.

Pramono stated that the fiscal incentives provided successfully boosted economic transactions by up to Rp 67.5 trillion through various Jakarta Festive Wonders events.

"These various activities have succeeded in encouraging tourism economic activities and public consumption," he stated.

Furthermore, tourism indicators also show significant growth. This is evidenced by the number of domestic tourists reaching 8.82 million trips. Furthermore, the number of international tourist visits also increased by 8.17 percent year-on-year, reaching 1.04 million visits.

To maintain this momentum, the Jakarta Provincial Government continues to improve public transportation services and supporting infrastructure, making them increasingly better and more integrated. One example is by increasing LRT connectivity from Pegangsaan Dua Station to Manggarai.

Pramono continued the new LRT route is scheduled to be inaugurated in August. Additionally, construction is underway to extend the MRT's Phase 2A connectivity from the Bundaran HI-Kota route.

"We believe that when mobility improves, hopefully this will trigger the economy in Jakarta to improve as well, as transportation is one of the indicators of how well Jakarta's economy is growing," he stated.
