The Central Jakarta Public Works Sub-agency, from January to the third week of July 2026, has repaired 40 Public Street Lighting (PJU) Panels that were damaged and stolen by irresponsible people.
Head of the Sub-agency, M Soleh, said 40 panels spread across eight districts were damaged due to vandalism and theft.

"We recorded 40 cases of damage to street lighting panels by vandals or theft, from the beginning of January to the third week of July 2026," he said, Tuesday (7/21).
He added that the vandalized streetlight panels were located on main roads and roads far from residential areas, such as Jalan Gunung Sahari, Palmerah Timur, Pangeran Diponegoro, Pramuka Raya, Proklamasi, Penataran, Letjen Suprapto, Latuharhary, Hasyim Ashari, and Jalan Tentara Pelajar.
He explained that the vandals targeted vital panels components such as copper ground cables, aluminum aerial cables, Miniature Circuit Breakers (MCBs) and other components.
"We have repaired the damaged street light panels and asked the task force to check locations that are considered vulnerable and have been targeted by irresponsible people," he admitted.
