Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has urged residents to work together to prevent fires, particularly in densely populated areas such as Tambora, following the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency's (BMKG) forecast of a prolonged dry season.

the prolonged dry season increases the risk of fires

"For example, don't throw away cigarette butts carelessly after smoking, as they could start a fire. Electrical short circuits are another common cause," Pramono said on Jalan Bangka III, RT 014/RW 002, Mampang Prapatan Sub-district, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (7/21).

Pramono said the prolonged dry season increases the risk of fires. In response, the Jakarta Provincial Government, through the Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), has stepped up public awareness campaigns on fire prevention, including by providing fire extinguishers in every RW.

"This initiative has already been rolled out across Jakarta as a preventive measure," he added.

Pramono emphasized that the city administration would continue promoting fire prevention measures to encourage residents to help prevent fires in their neighborhoods.

"Let's work together to keep our neighborhoods safe. The Jakarta Provincial Government will continue reminding residents about these preventive measures," he said.
