The Cilincing Sub-district Bina Marga Unit is on track to complete sidewalk repairs along the east side of Jalan Syekh Nawawi Al Bantani by late July 2026. The project, located in front of the Cilincing Motor Vehicle Inspection Unit (UP PKB), has currently reached a 65% completion milestone.

Cilincing Sub-agency Bina Marga Unit Head, Hartanto explained that the sidewalk repair is a key part of infrastructure maintenance and revitalization efforts to ensure pedestrian safety and comfort.

Thanks for getting this sidewalk back in shape

Previously, the sidewalk was in a state of severe disrepair. Missing and broken paving blocks created an uneven surface, with some sections sitting flush with the road—posing a significant hazard to walkers.

"The infrastructure was outdated and crumbling. We're overhauling the design to restore its proper function and provide peace of mind for everyone passing through," he expressed, Tuesday (7/21).

He detailed that the sidewalk restoration covers a 300-meter stretch with a width of 1.5 meters. To smoothen it, five to ten personnel are deployed to the site every day.

"The scope of work includes replacing paving blocks, realigning curbstones, and installing drainage inlets," he clarified.

Targeted to wrap up by late next month, the work aims to provide pedestrians with optimum access. Hartanto called on residents to be responsible stewards of the public space.

"Please help us maintain these sidewalks. Avoid using them for parking or trading so they stay clean and last longer. By keeping the sidewalks free from misuse, the facility is expected to have a much longer lifespan," he explained.

This project received appreciation from one of the locals, Hendra (37).

"This repair is a huge benefit to us. It’s much safer for people to walk now. Thanks for getting this sidewalk back in shape," he added.
