A total of 111 joint personnel were deployed for a land clearance operation in RW 13 on Jalan Perintis Kemerdekaan, Pegangsaan Dua Urban Village, Kelapa Gading Sub-district, North Jakarta. The operation was carried out to accelerate the construction of a new road linking the area to Pulo Gadung Terminal.

A total of nine properties were affected by the operation

Jakarta Public Works Agency representative Budiyana said the land clearance was part of the city's efforts to support infrastructure development while enforcing existing regulations. He added that residents affected by the project had been informed several months before the clearance began.

"A total of nine properties were affected by the operation. Most residents have already received compensation, while compensation for one remaining property is still being processed through a court consignment mechanism," he said on Monday (7/20).

Budiyana urged all personnel to prioritize a humane and persuasive approach throughout the operation, while carrying out their duties in accordance with regulations.

"Put a humane approach first. Be firm but empathetic. Avoid acting arrogantly, and do not be provoked or make remarks that could escalate tensions with residents," he asserted.

He noted that the new link road is part of the government's effort to improve connectivity between areas while supporting orderly spatial planning.

According to Budiyana, the road is expected to help ease traffic congestion and improve mobility, particularly for people traveling between North and East Jakarta.

"The operation has proceeded smoothly. Heavy equipment and personnel have been deployed to ensure the demolition and debris removal process runs efficiently," he said.

Pegangsaan Dua Urban Village Head Sarmudi also expressed support for the project, saying the new link road would provide significant benefits for residents.

"The new link road is expected to improve accessibility and facilitate mobility for residents of Pegangsaan Dua and surrounding areas," he said.

Sarmudi added that the operation involved 111 joint personnel from the Indonesian Military (TNI), National Police (Polri), Public Order Agency (Satpol PP), Jakarta Public Works Agency, Jakarta Transportation Agency, PLN, and the Public Infrastructure and Facilities Handling (PPSU) unit. Before the operation began, all personnel attended a coordination assembly to ensure it was carried out safely and according to procedures.

"The demolition and debris removal are still underway, with joint security personnel deployed to ensure the operation remains safe and runs smoothly," he said.
