The Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung, confirmed that the Jakarta Provincial Government will immediately control the price increases for a number of vegetable commodities triggered by reduced supplies from production centers due to the weather and the threat of drought.
TPID will monitor these increases
Pramono said that the Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) will immediately investigate the causes of the price increase and prepare mitigation measures.
"The TPID will monitor these increases. Given what we saw today, we will of course check on that. However, it's clear that the Jakarta Government will address this immediately," said Pramono, Friday (7/17).
Pramono emphasized that despite the price increases for several commodities, inflation in Jakarta remained under control. In fact, as of June 2026, Jakarta recorded the lowest inflation rate among all provinces on the island of Java.
Based on data through June 2026, Jakarta's monthly inflation was recorded at 0.41 percent (month-to-month). This figure is higher than the previous month, but still lower than the national inflation rate of 0.44 percent.
Meanwhile, Jakarta's annual inflation rate stood at 2.78 percent (year on year/yoy), lower than the national inflation rate of 3.34 percent and the lowest on Java Island.
"Jakarta's inflation rate in the semester up to June was the lowest in all of Java," he stated.
