A total of 120 residents participated in free Tuberculosis (TB) screening organized by the North Jakarta Health Sub-agency in collaboration with the Cilincing District Health Center at the RW 14 Office, Kalibaru Urban Village, Cilincing District.

The Active Case Finding (ACF) activity targets residents who are household contacts and close contacts of TB patients as an effort to detect the disease early and prevent its spread in the community.

Eliminate the stigma against TB sufferers

Head of the Disease Prevention and Control Section of the North Jakarta Health Sub-agency, Sari Agustina said residents whose X-ray results indicate TB will be directed to the Kalibaru Sub-Health Center to undergo further examination and intensive treatment.

According to him, patients who undergo regular treatment for about two weeks will experience a significant reduction in the risk of transmission.

"We also encourage the public to eliminate the stigma against TB sufferers. Instead of shunning them, they need support to ensure their treatment is complete," she said.

Head of Cilincing Community Health Center, Raden Achmad Sigit admitted this year, the team is targeting screening and tracing at 120 locations across the Cilincing District, targeting around 100 residents at each location.

The Cilincing District Health Center also continues to educate the community through the establishment of TB Alert Villages, cadre training, and outreach regarding the importance of adherence to treatment until completion.

"Tuberculosis is a disease that can be cured as long as the patient is disciplined in following the treatment recommended by health workers," he stated.

Meanwhile, one of the residents, Kurniawati (45) admitted that she was helped by the screening services provided directly in her residential area.

"With the availability of TB screening services on a door-to-door basis, we feel very helped and do not need to go all the way to the hospital to undergo an X-ray examination," she admitted.
