The Tendean Pedestrian Bridge which was damaged after being hit by a truck carrying heavy equipment has been evacuated.
The Head of the Data and Information Center of the Jakarta Public Works Agency, Siti Dinarwenny, said that the reconstruction of the Tendean pedestrian bridge still requires a study and planning process in accordance with applicable regulations, so the implementation time cannot be confirmed yet.
Prepare a technical plan
"The Public Works Agency will first prepare a technical plan in accordance with applicable regulations. This process requires further study, so the timeline for rebuilding the pedestrian bridge is currently uncertain," she said, Wednesday (7/15).
Previously, the Jakarta Provincial Public Works Agency had completed the evacuation process of the Tendean pedestrian bridge which was damaged after being hit by a truck carrying heavy equipment on Tuesday 7/(14) at around 10:45 PM.
All affected parts of the pedestrian bridge were successfully evacuated, thus ensuring that the on-site handling was complete. With the evacuation complete, traffic on Jalan Tendean returned to normal, both from Pancoran to Pasar Santa and vice versa.
"Thank you to all relevant government agencies involved, field officers, and the public for their support and cooperation. Thanks to the collaboration of all parties, the handling and evacuation of the Tendean pedestrian bridge proceeded safely and smoothly," she added.
Reflecting on this incident, the Jakarta Public Works Agency urges all drivers, especially drivers of large-sized vehicles and heavy equipment transport vehicles, to always comply with the provisions on vehicle dimension and height limits and pay attention to applicable traffic signs.
"Compliance with these provisions is expected to prevent similar incidents in the future," she stated.
