The Mayor of Central Jakarta, Arifin, invited residents of Harapan Mulia Urban Village to start sorting organic and inorganic waste from their homes.
This invitation was conveyed by Arifin, while visiting residents of RW 02, Harapan Mulia Urban Village, Tuesday (7/14) evening.
Actively sort their waste at home
"I ask Harapan Mulia residents to actively sort their waste at home. Organic food waste can be processed into fertilizer and other products. Meanwhile, plastic bottles are collected for recycling," he said.
Arifin added that waste management by sorting from the source is one way to reduce the volume of waste, while also providing economic value for residents.
"Starting August 1, the Jakarta Provincial Government will gradually reduce the amount of waste dumped at the Bantar Gebang landfill," he added.
At this gathering activity, Arifin, who was present with his staff, also listened to various problems conveyed by residents.
The head of RW 04 Harapan Mulia, Notvi Jumiadi, conveyed the problem regarding the existence of empty stalls and goat pens in the RT 01 to 05 areas which he said disturbed the comfort of residents.
"Several buildings are now abandoned, and goat pens emit a pungent odor. Residents are demanding that these illegal stalls be immediately demolished," he conveyed.
Responding to this, Arifin asked the Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) and the Johar Baru Urban Village and District officials to immediately follow up.
