The Jakarta Provincial Government together with the Indonesian Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education and the Indonesian National Police provided psychological assistance to students, parents, and teachers at SDN Srengseng Sawah 15, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta after yesterday receiving a bomb threat and disrupting school activities.

Children return to school feeling safe and happy

The mentoring was carried out as an effort to restore a sense of security while ensuring that the implementation of the School Environment Introduction Period (MPLS) continues to run conducively.

Minister of Primary and Secondary Education said the government's presence aims to provide encouragement to all school residents so that the teaching and learning process can return to normal.

"We want to ensure that children return to school feeling safe and happy. The new students appear cheerful and enthusiastic about participating in learning activities," he said, Tuesday (7/14).

According to him, cross-agency collaboration is a concrete manifestation of the government's commitment to maintaining students' mental health following the incident.

He reminded the importance of practicing the Seven Habits of Great Indonesians, including developing a healthy lifestyle, positive social interactions, and avoiding excessive use of gadgets that provide no benefits.

Mu'ti also appreciated the parents who continued to provide support by taking their children to school.

"This support is very important so that children are more enthusiastic about learning," he added.

In addition to providing motivation to students, Mu'ti continued, the Ministry also provides counseling to parents so they can create a conducive atmosphere at home and maintain their children's psychological condition.

"We request that no one disseminate information about this matter to other children. Children's privacy and mental health must be properly protected," he appealed.

The Director of Women and Children Protection and Women and Children Services (of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Senior Commissioner Rita Wulandari Wibowo, added that her team had deployed a trauma recovery team to accompany participants and provide education to parents and educators.

"We, along with the Jakarta Education Agency and the Jakarta PPAPP Agency, will continue to provide support. Their response has been very positive. Most importantly, no one is currently spreading or distributing negative content related to the incident at this school," she said.

Meanwhile, the principal of Srengseng Sawah 15 Elementary School, Kamtono, stated the bomb threat had caused panic and anxiety among teachers. However, the school tried to maintain a conducive situation to ensure the MPLS process was not disrupted.

"We have to minimize the impact and hope that an incident like this will not happen again," he stated.

The school collaborates with a psychology team to provide support to prevent long-term trauma.
