Residents of RW 16, Cipinang Urban Village, Pulo Gadung District, East Jakarta, participated in a fire prevention and response socialization held by the East Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-agency.

Small-scale fires

Head Section of Prevention for the Sub-agency, Edi Parwoko said the material provided includes preventive measures and initial fire handling techniques, both in theory and practice.

"Participants are taught to use a light fire extinguisher and to use a wet towel or sack for small-scale fires," he said, Thursday (7/9).

He reminded that most fires are caused by human negligence, such as using unsafe electrical installations, lack of discipline when using gas stoves, or leaving the stove on.

"Entering the dry season, we urge parents to supervise their children so that they do not play with matches or burn rubbish carelessly because it has the potential to trigger fires," he added.

Head of Cipinang Urban Village, Heidy Amelia Rangkuti appreciated the training. This makes it easier for people to gain knowledge and practical experience in dealing with emergency situations.

"At least residents will know how to react when a fire occurs," she stated.
