The Jakarta government has unveiled an Early Warning System (EWS) on the udara.jakarta.go.id portal, empowering residents to make proactive, health-conscious decisions.

This system is part of the Jakara government's commitment to bringing public services closer to the people.

Controlling pollution is a team effort

Through this new feature, residents can not only monitor real-time air quality but also access a three-day forecast to better plan their activities.

Air quality information is no longer just technical data; it has been transformed into easy-to-understand guidance that is practical for everyday life.

Jakarta Environmental Agency Head, Dudi Gardesi stated the development of the EWS on udara.jakarta.go.id reflects the government’s commitment to safeguarding public health from urban air pollution.

"The EWS is supported by Breathe Cities—a global initiative by Bloomberg Philanthropies, the Clean Air Fund, and C40 Cities—and is implemented alongside Vital Strategies in Jakarta to help cities achieve cleaner air and better health outcomes for their residents," he noted, Monday (7/6).

He explained that udara.jakarta.go.id is Jakarta's official platform for real-time spatial air quality information.

Through an interactive map, the public can monitor air quality conditions via the Air Pollutant Standard Index (ISPU) and see the distribution of monitoring stations across the city.

"This Early Warning System integrates air quality data from the Environmental Agency, BMKG’s forecasts, and health recommendations from the Health Agency into one unified service," he explained.

He emphasized that air pollution control is a long-term effort that demands collaboration. While the government strengthens policies, monitoring systems, and services, the public plays a pivotal role by using this information to protect themselves, their families, and their surroundings.

He hoped that the Early Warning System on udara.jakarta.go.id would become the primary reference for residents to understand Jakarta's air quality.

With more accessible data, the community can take proactive preventive measures and together drive the vision of a cleaner and healthier Jakarta.

“Controlling pollution is a team effort. As we strengthen our policies, we empower residents to use this data as a shield for their families and surroundings,” he continued.

The EWS stands out with four major strengths built for easy user engagement. Most notably, it serves as an all-in-one hub, merging real-time air quality data, predictive forecasts, and expert health advice in one place.

Then, the EWS provides three-day air quality forecasts at the sub-district level, allowing residents to plan their activities with greater safety. Also, it features personalized activity tips for everyone, including sensitive groups like children, expectant mothers, seniors, and people with chronic health issues. From indoor to outdoor advice, the platform even helps you locate the nearest health services for quick access.

Lastly, the EWS introduces a built-in self-assessment tool. Users can take a quick health symptom survey to gauge their pollution-related risk profile, categorized as low, medium, or high.

"By using this tool, residents can stay ahead of potential health issues and act immediately to get the care they need," he emphasized.
