The South Jakarta City Parks and Forestry (Tamhut) Sub-agency planted five pink tabebuia trees at Casuarina Park in Cipedak Urban Village, Jagakarsa Sub-district, as part of its Friday Planting program.

We will continue expanding green spaces across South Jakarta

South Jakarta Tamhut Sub-agency Head Herlina Merinda said the park was selected because several areas still appeared barren and required additional shade trees.

"We chose this park because several sections are still lacking greenery and remain quite barren," she said on Friday (7/3).

Herlina said the tree-planting activity involved members of Saka Wanabakti South Jakarta as part of a collaborative effort to expand green spaces across South Jakarta.

She encouraged visitors to Casuarina Park to help keep the park clean and protect its greenery so it remains a comfortable public space for everyone.

"We will continue expanding green spaces across South Jakarta. At the same time, we will continue maintaining trees and plants, especially during the current dry season, when they require extra care to grow well," she added.

Meanwhile, Melati Sesil, a visitor to Casuarina Park, welcomed the government's greening initiative, saying the additional trees would make the park more comfortable for people exercising and spending time outdoors.

"The more trees there are, the cooler the park will feel. People who come here to exercise or relax will also be better protected from direct sunlight," she said.
