Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung inspected the integrated design-and-build construction progress of the Latumenten Flyover in Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta, Thursday (7/2).

The project aims to elevate transportation infrastructure and alleviate traffic congestion in West Jakarta area.

The Latumenten Flyover is one of the most highly anticipated projects in Jakarta

"The Latumenten Flyover is one of the most highly anticipated projects in Jakarta. Why? Because traffic here is consistently heavy throughout the day—morning, noon, and night," Pramono expressed.

He emphasized that this project is a cornerstone of the city’s infrastructure agenda. It is designed to unlock traffic in the Grogol-Pluit-Slipi corridor and ensure a smoother, safer journey for every commuter.

Currently standing at 55.2% completion, the Rp 259 billion Latumenten Flyover project is on track for a December 15, 2026 finish.

"Once this is complete, the gridlock in this area will be resolved. I have received a briefing from the Head of the Highways Office that the lane underneath will be closed to streamline traffic," he explained.

In the past, the Latumenten and Grogol areas were major traffic hotspots due to railway level crossings. With the completion of this flyover, vehicles will no longer have to cross the tracks, ensuring a smoother flow of traffic and significantly enhancing road safety.

By pushing forward with these strategic developments, Pramono envisions a more connected and efficient Jakarta.

Notably, the Slipi-bound section of the Latumenten Flyover stretches 435 meters with a width of 11 meters, featuring two general traffic lanes and one dedicated Transjakarta lane.

Similarly, the Grogol-bound side spans 420 meters in length and 11 meters in width, also equipped with two general lanes and a specialized lane for Transjakarta.

To further boost connectivity, a new accessible overpass will link the local Transjakarta hub directly to Grogol Station. This development is a major step toward creating a safer, more unified transit system across the capital.

Jakarta Bina Marga Agency Head, Heru Suwondo added that even after the railway level crossing is permanently closed, the road in this area will remain functional for U-turns.

"Even after the crossing is blocked, this road remains operational. Vehicles from both directions will still have the flexibility to loop back. Only the path over the tracks is being closed; the U-turn access stays open for everyone," he remarked.
