Member of Commission D of the Jakarta City Council, Abdurrahman Suhaimi, initiated a meeting between representatives of residents, district and urban village government officials at the Duren Sawit District Office, Monday (6/29).

The meeting was a follow-up to community aspirations conveyed during the recess activities, particularly regarding flood management in Klender Urban Village.

The meeting was attended by the Vice of Duren Sawit District, Andri Priwitama Maila; Head of the Water Resources Implementation Unit of Duren Sawit District, A Dody F; Head of Economic and Development Section of Klender Urban Village, Tya S; Head of RT 08/03 Klender Urban Village, Dwi Kurniasih; Head of RW 1, Rahmad Satrioyono; Head of RW 2, Muhammad Indra Hafifi; and Head of RW 7, Bambang Widiatmoko.

During the meeting, the residents' representatives explained the flooding conditions in their area, along with the various challenges they faced in the field, and proposed a number of mitigation measures that could be implemented immediately.

Suhaimi said the Jakarta City Council's task does not stop at absorbing public aspirations, but also ensuring that every input is followed up through coordination with relevant regional agencies.

"The aspirations expressed during the recess must be followed up with concrete steps. I initiated this meeting so that all parties can compare data, identify the root of the problem, and develop appropriate flood management solutions that can be implemented immediately," said Suhaimi, Tuesday (6/30).

He ensured that he would continue to monitor the results of the meeting by bringing all recommendations and aspirations of residents to a higher level.

Coordination will be carried out with the East Jakarta Mayor, the East Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency, and the Jakarta Water Resources Agency so that flood management in Klender Urban Village immediately receives cross-agency attention and support.

Meanwhile, Head of Duren Sawit Water Resources Unit, A Dody F stated his party will follow up on the results of the meeting through technical in-depth studies in the field.

"We will inspect and map the points causing flooding. The results will then be adjusted to reflect the authorities and programs that can be implemented to ensure more effective flood management efforts," he stated.
