Residents of Pluit Urban Village, Penjaringan District, North Jakarta, received 18 sorting bins from PT Bank IBK Indonesia. The donation was handed over at the Pluit Urban Village Office and will be distributed to the community to support the waste sorting program.

Start sorting waste from home

Head of Pluit Urban Village, Achmad Faizal said in addition to the distribution of sorting trash bins, the activity also included a socialization on waste sorting delivered by the North Jakarta Environmental Sub-agency.

"We provide education to the public about the types of waste and how to process it so that residents can start sorting waste from home," he said, Thursday (6/25).

Faizal explained that the socialization was attended by around 50 participants. They gain an understanding of waste grouping which includes organic, inorganic, hazardous and toxic materials (B3), and residue.

"They were given an explanation regarding the proper management procedures for each type of waste," he explained.

According to him, the habit of sorting waste from home is an important step in reducing the volume of waste sent to the Bantar Gebang Integrated Waste Processing Site (TPST).

Meanwhile, a representative of PT Bank IBK Indonesia, Beatrice, stated that the assistance of sorting trash bins was part of the company's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program to support environmental cleanliness in Jakarta.

"We strongly support this waste sorting program. We hope that these trash bins will make it easier for residents to sort their waste and raise collective awareness of environmental cleanliness in the Pluit area," she stated.
