Central Jakarta Mayor Arifin urged students, teachers, and school employees in Central Jakarta to make healthy living a habit through waste sorting and routine health screenings.

Raising awareness of the importance of keeping our environment clean and healthy

Arifin delivered the message while opening the Healthy Living Community Movement (Germas) Goes to School program at SMKN 27 Jakarta in Pasar Baru, Sawah Besar, on Thursday (6/25).

According to Arifin, the Germas program, which combines waste sorting activities and free health screenings, provides an important foundation for students to learn, grow, and achieve their goals.

"This initiative aims to foster healthier lifestyles while raising awareness of the importance of keeping our environment clean and healthy," he said.

Arifin also encouraged SMKN 27 students to play an active role in supporting Jakarta's development by cultivating environmental awareness from an early age.

"Caring for the environment can start with simple habits, such as disposing of waste properly, reducing the use of single-use items, and making waste sorting a habit both at school and at home," he explained.

Central Jakarta Health Sub-agency Head Ilmi Tri Indiarto added that schools are highly strategic environments for instilling healthy lifestyle habits.

According to Ilmi, students are the next generation who can drive positive change within their families, communities, and society as a whole.

"This activity not only provides health education but also helps build a shared commitment among the school community to adopt healthy lifestyles," he said.
