Hopes and input were conveyed by several Central Jakarta residents, coinciding with the Jakarta's 499th Anniversary, Monday (6/22).
safer, and more comfortable
The majority of residents hope that, as Jakarta approaches its fifth century, it will continue to develop into a city that is advanced, safe and comfortable, and capable of providing better services and welfare for the entire community.
This hope was expressed by Ana Nur, a Tanah Abang resident. The 37-year-old woman said she was proud to be a Jakarta resident on her way to becoming a global city.
"I'm proud to be a resident of Jakarta. I hope Jakarta enters its fifth century, becoming more advanced, safer, and more comfortable for its residents," she said.
She also voiced her aspirations regarding mass transportation services in Jakarta, so that they would be better and sidewalks would be comfortable for road users to cross.
"I want Transjakarta transportation services to be better," she added.
Rudi (50), a resident of Kemayoran, expressed a similar opinion. As a Transjakarta bus user, he wants the fleet to be increased.
"Transjakarta bus services are already good and are expected to improve by increasing the number of fleets, so that there are no longer long queues when taking mass transportation, especially in the morning and evening," he stated.
Meanwhile, Amelia (35), an online motorcycle taxi driver residing in Kemayoran, requested that the Jakarta Provincial Government provide special attention to online motorcycle taxi drivers, such as providing free parking.
She also requested that the social assistance distributed by the Jakarta Provincial Government be properly targeted.
"Previously, I received social assistance, but now I no longer receive it even though it is really needed," she admitted.
