Ragunan Zoo Public Relations Head, Wahyudi Bambang stated that the free admission policy is an integral part of the series of festivities for Jakarta’s 499th anniversary, programmed by the Jakarta government.
According to him, following directives from the Jakarta government, the public will be granted complimentary access to Ragunan Zoo on June 22, 27, and 28, 2026.
"We are committed to supporting the series of festivities for Jakarta’s 499th anniversary," he expressed, Wednesday (6/17).
He continued that for this year’s celebration, Ragunan Zoo has adopted the theme "Explore Ragunan, Discover the Wildlife, Love Jakarta." This theme serves as a call to action for the public to better acquaint themselves with Indonesia’s rich biodiversity while simultaneously fostering a deeper commitment to wildlife conservation efforts.
He noted that the theme also resonates with the spirit of Jakarta’s transformation into a modern, inclusive, and sustainable global city.
"Through this theme, we aim to invite the public to gain a deeper understanding of Indonesia’s rich wildlife, foster conservation awareness, and collectively celebrate Jakarta’s journey toward a more advanced and sustainable new era," he remarked.
To further heighten the festive spirit, he continued, Ragunan Zoo will host interactive prize-winning quizzes that visitors can participate in throughout the Jakarta Anniversary period. This initiative is designed as an educational platform presented in an engaging and entertaining manner, specifically tailored for families and the younger generation.
"Visitors are invited to not only explore the Ragunan grounds and discover a wide range of native and exotic wildlife but also to participate in various quizzes that test their knowledge of animal species, conservation, and the history of Jakarta," he elaborated.
Wahyudi regards the momentum of Jakarta’s anniversary as the ideal opportunity to reinforce Ragunan’s position as a premier educational tourism destination capable of delivering an engaging and enjoyable learning experience for the public.
"This milestone presents an excellent opportunity to strengthen Ragunan's role as a leading educational attraction that provides an enjoyable learning journey for the community," he continued.
He elaborated that the "Ragunan Night Zoo" service is slated to return for the peak of the Jakarta anniversary celebrations. The program is expected to serve as an additional draw for visitors seeking the unique experience of observing animal behavior after dark.
"Through these special initiatives, Ragunan Zoo invites the residents of Jakarta and its surrounding areas to join the festivities while enjoying an educational tourism experience that is both entertaining and enriching," he concluded.
