The Blue Troops of the Water Resources (SDA) Implementation Unit of Makasar District, East Jakarta, carried out revitalization of the water channel on Jalan Marga Mulya, RT 07/05, Halim Perdanakusuma Urban Village.

Head of the Unit, Nurdin said the revitalization of the 31-meter-long channel is a follow-up to residents' proposals submitted during the Jakarta City Council Legislator recess several months ago.

Eight Blue Troop personnel are deployed

According to him, the channel revitalization was carried out using a 40x40x120-centimeter U-ditch. Work began manually on June 3, 2026, with a target completion date of June 26.

"Eight Blue Troop personnel are deployed to revitalize this water channel. Work progress has currently reached approximately 10 percent," he said, Friday (6/12).

He explained that the channel revitalization is carried out because the existing condition was deemed inadequate. Previously, water flow relied solely on three-inch pipes, which were unable to accommodate the high water discharge during heavy rain. As a result, water often overflowed onto the road, disrupting the activities and comfort of local residents.

"Hopefully, with the completion of the revitalization of this channel, it can prevent the potential for flooding when it rains," he explained.

Meanwhile, a local resident, Ali (39) welcomed the realization of the revitalization of the channel because it was really needed.

Ali hopes that the East Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency will continue to be responsive to various pressing environmental infrastructure needs so that the comfort and safety of residents can be further maintained.

"Hopefully this newly revitalized water channel will be able to anticipate inundation during rainy season," he hoped.
