Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung inspected the readiness of the Race Expo for the BTN Jakarta International Marathon 2026 at Balai Kartini, South Jakarta. The marathon event is slated to take place from June 13 to 14, 2026.
According to Pramono, the Jakarta International Marathon has drawn a remarkable 45,500 participants this year, reflecting the high level of public interest in this world-class race.
All registrations were fully booked in no time
"The participation has been incredible. While I had jokingly aimed for a target of 45,000 last year, I am pleased that all registrations were fully booked in no time," he remarked, Friday (6/12).
Aside that, the event has drawn 1,012 foreign nationals, including participants from Malaysia, Singapore, and Korea. According to him, this international participation bolsters Jakarta’s reputation as a top-tier sport tourism hub and a formidable host for world-class events.
"This reflects a promising new trajectory. I hope we can manage and maintain this momentum together, providing runners with a memorable experience while establishing the Jakarta International Marathon as a flagship event for the city’s sport tourism sector," he explained.
Pramono will personally join the event in the 10K division. He expressed conviction that the massive turnout would generate a positive economic ripple effect across the city, particularly for the hospitality sector, with hotels along major thoroughfares like Sudirman-Thamrin, Gatot Subroto, and Rasuna Said nearing full capacity.
Then, to ensure a seamless and secure experience for participants, the Jakarta government has announced the suspension of Car Free Day (CFD) for this upcoming weekend.
At the same time, BTN President Director, Nixon LP Napitupulu extended his gratitude to the Jakarta government for its pivotal role in hosting this prestigious international race.
He highlighted the overwhelming enthusiasm for this year’s edition, which has drawn a diverse field of global runners and secured sponsorships from major international brands. He remains hopeful that the Jakarta International Marathon (JAKIM) 2026 will further invigorate the city’s economic landscape.
"This marks a significant milestone as we have surpassed the threshold of 1,000 foreign runners. We aspire to double that figure next year. Further, the Governor has mandated a clear KPI for me—to reach 50,000 participants in the coming year," he added.
The BTN JAKIM 2026 route is set to span from the National Monument to Gelora Bung Karno, with the finish line situated at the GBK Ring Road. The competition offers four racing disciplines: the 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, and Full Marathon.
