The Jakarta Provincial Government continues to finalize plans to develop the Lebak Bulus Park and Ride, South Jakarta, into a transit-oriented development area that not only functions as a transportation hub, but also a center for residential, business, and community activities.
South Jakarta Mayor, Syafrin Liputo said the development of the Lebak Bulus area is directed at the concept of comprehensive transportation and spatial planning integration to create a more comfortable, orderly, and friendly mobility system for the community.

"The Jakarta MRT service must be supported by adequate park-and-ride facilities. People heading to the city center can park their vehicles there and then continue their journey using the MRT or Transjakarta," he said, Wednesday (6/10).
According to him, the optimization of the Lebak Bulus Park and Ride area is in line with the priority program of Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung, to reduce traffic volume to the city center while improving the capital's air quality.
As part of regional development, the Jakarta Provincial Government has prepared two alternative locations to support the operation of the Intercity and Interprovincial (AKAP) bus terminal in South Jakarta.
The first alternative is to optimize the existing Park and Ride area by adding supporting facilities in the form of lay-by or stopping areas for intercity buses. The second alternative is to develop the existing Pasar Jumat area into a dedicated intercity bus terminal.
"This terminal facility is projected to accommodate residents of South Jakarta and its surroundings who wish to travel outside the area, either to Java or Sumatra," he added.
Syafrin explained that the Lebak Bulus area is not only designed to strengthen its transportation function, but is also designed to become a new activity center. The Jakarta Provincial Government plans to build a large-capacity Park and Ride facility through the construction of a multi-story parking lot and a spacious parking area to accommodate public transportation users.
"On the south side of the area or directly across from the current Park and Ride location, a mixed-use building will be developed that integrates residential, hotel and community economic activity centers in one area," he explained.
According to him, after the planning process is completed by PT MRT Jakarta, the Jakarta Provincial Government will continue the next stage by opening up cooperation opportunities to the private sector through a market sounding process.
"The next step is to conduct market research to attract investors to participate in the development of this area. We fully support the implementation of this program so that it can be realized soon," he stated.
