Some 150 joint personnel, under the leadership of East Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency Head Harlem Simanjuntak, raided illegal parking spots on several East Jakarta roads as part of a city-wide simultaneous operation involving all five administrative cities.

East Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency Head, Harlem Simanjuntak said, personnel were divided into two units: Group A targeted Jalan Jatinegara Barat, Jalan Jatinegara Timur, and Jalan Bekasi Barat, while Group B carried out enforcement actions along Jalan Dewi Sartika, Jalan MT Haryono, and Jalan Mayjen Sutoyo.

This operation focuses on East Jakarta’s northern and southern regions

"Conducted simultaneously across Jakarta's five cities, this operation focuses on East Jakarta’s northern and southern regions. The enforcement targets illegal parking, unauthorized attendants, and street vendors obstructing sidewalks and roadsides," he remarked, Monday (6/8).

Harlem noted that authorities penalized 13 cars and 42 motorbikes caught parking in restricted areas. The enforcement resulted in nine cars being towed and 15 motorbikes being transported by truck. Further, two commercial vehicles faced operational suspension due to lapsed vehicle inspection certificates (KIR).

"Besides the other penalties, two cars were ticketed by the police, and 27 motorbikes faced the tire valve removal sanction," he clarified.

He urged motorists to avoid parking their vehicles on road shoulders and sidewalks, noting that such practices disturb public order, cause traffic gridlock, and diminish the safety and convenience of pedestrians.

"We call upon them to adhere to established parking rules to foster traffic conditions that are orderly, safe, and comfortable for every road user," he remarked.

Aside that, Operations Section Head for East Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency, Emiral Augus Dwinanto uttered that the crackdown comprised personnel from diverse agencies, such as Transportation Sub-agency, Satpol PP, Garrison, army, police, Brimob, and East Jakarta Traffic Police.

"The police will handle the motorcycles hauled by truck for further legal action. However, towed vehicles and those facing operational suspensions remain within our authority," he emphasized.
