Upon being formally sworn in as Jakarta City Council Chairman, Suhud Alynudin underscored his pledge to sustain the momentum of positive accomplishments fostered under the preceding administration.
He aims to reinforce the role of the city council in driving development and enhancing the welfare of Jakarta’s residents.

"Hopefully, this transition will bring positive progress for the Jakarta City Council and improve the council’s performance in exercising its legislative, budgetary, and oversight functions," Suhud stated, at the City Council Building, Monday (6/8)
Further, he extended his gratitude to all stakeholders for their support in ensuring the seamless transition of the city council leadership. He emphasized, the success of the process was a collective achievement involving various elements, including the preceding leadership, Jakarta government, faction heads, and the entire body of the city council members.
He noted that a key priority of his tenure as thr council chairman is to build upon existing legislative milestones. In his view, the enactment of regional bylaws is a vital benchmark of performance, providing the essential legal framework for the ongoing development of Jakarta.
He pointed out that the city council has successfully enacted around 20 bylaws within this period. Looking ahead, Suhud emphasized that priority will be given to regulatory frameworks that support the strengthening of the local economy.
Additionally, ge highlighted the necessity of collaboration between the legislature and the executive to navigate development hurdles, especially given the current strained economic climate.
"Collaborating with the Governor, we will push for a better Jakarta, focusing on economic welfare and the qualitative improvement of our human capital," he added.
He went on to say that the necessity for strategic breakthroughs, such as creative financing mechanisms, to maintain the optimal execution of development programs in the face of fiscal limitations.
"Jakarta continues to face the challenge of a budget deficit, necessitating innovation and strategic shifts so that our development progress is not compromised by the prevailing economic climate," he remarked.
During his remaining term of office, Suhud is dedicated to driving the optimization of regional revenue sources that have not yet been fully tapped. He emphasized that bolstering the role of Regional-Owned Enterprises (BUMD) is essential to maximizing their contribution to the city's own-source revenue (PAD).
He furthered that Jakarta possesses 22 such enterprises, all of which have significant potential to drive regional income and reinforce the economic foundations of the capital.
He also expressed his appreciation for the 'Unqualified Opinion' (WTP) rating recently re-attained by the Jakarta government from the Audit Board (BPK). Nevertheless, he noted that this achievement must be followed by rectifying the various points raised in the BPK’s audit notes.
Moreover, Suhud conveyed the advice given by his predecessor, Khoirudin. He was tasked with safeguarding the public mandate, continuing successful existing programs, and building a strong synergy with the Jakarta government to advance city development.
"He (Suhud) entrusted me to work more effectively, honor the responsibility given to me, and sustain the good work that has been done for the advancement of Jakarta," he stated firmly.
