PT MRT Jakarta, Hitachi Rail, and Sumitomo Corporation have finalized a partnership for the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) system through the signing of the CP207 cooperation contract for the North-South Line Phase 2A.
The agreement was signed by PT MRT Jakarta Construction Director, Weni Maulina; Hitachi Rail Hong Kong Limited Authorized Representative, Nicolas Rabat; and Sumitomo Corporation Consortium Authorized Representative, Tsuyoshi Nakamura.

PT MRT Jakarta President Director, Tuhiyat, stated that the signing of this cooperation contract marks a significant milestone in the development journey of MRT Jakarta.
He emphasized that the AFC system is integral to achieving the operational readiness of Phase 2A of the North-South Line. Further, the system constitutes the fundamental pillar for enhancing customer experience and driving the integration of future-ready transit services.
"Representing MRT Jakarta, we convey our sincere gratitude to the central government, the Government of Japan, the Jakarta administration, and JICA for their unwavering support and confidence in fostering a modern urban transit network for Jakarta," he remarked, Monday (6/8).
He elaborated that CP 207 is a constituent part of the construction contract for the MRT Jakarta North-South Line Phase 2A. The scope of this package encompasses the design, manufacturing, delivery, and installation of the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) system.
“Valued at Rp 341.5 billion, this work package will support MRT Jakarta’s operations spanning from Bundaran HI to Kota,” he remarked.
Hitachi Rail Hong Kong Limited Director and CEO, Nicolas Rabbat remarked that the execution of this contract reinforces Hitachi Rail’s steadfast commitment to advancing Indonesia’s rail and urban transit sectors. He took pride in the partnership with MRT Jakarta, aiming to provide more intelligent and seamless mobility solutions powered by cutting-edge technology.
“Beyond improving operational efficiency and the standard of customer service, this system will act as a pivotal cornerstone for an increasingly interconnected urban mobility ecosystem of the future,” he clarified.
Further, Sumitomo Corporation Representative, Tsuyoshi Nakamura conveyed his pride in playing a role in MRT Jakarta’s expansion by supplying the AFC system.
“Leveraging our extensive track record in various railway infrastructure projects across Indonesia, we remain dedicated to advancing an urban transit system that is efficient, dependable, and sustainable, effectively addressing the ever-growing mobility demands of Jakarta's residents,” he remarked.
Notably, construction on the North-South Line Phase 2A has attained 60.80% completion as of May 25, 2026, surpassing the projected 59.70% target. PT MRT Jakarta is slated to operationalize Segment 1 (Bundaran HI–Monas) by 2027 and Segment 2 (up to Kota) by 2029.
Taking place at PT MRT Jakarta’s head office in Wisma Nusantara, Central Jakarta, the signing was witnessed by Economic and Development Affairs Minister, Kenji Enoshita; Jakarta’s Finance and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) Head, Sofyan Antonius; Jakarta’s Assistant for Economy and Finance, Suharini Eliawati; Jakarta’s Regional-Owned Enterprises Supervisory Board, Syaefuloh Hidayat; Jakarta Transportation Agency Head, Budi Awaludin; and PT MRT Jakarta President Director, Tuhiyat.
