The normalization of the drainage channels at Jalan Karet Pasar Baru Barat II, RT 06/RW 06, Karet Tengsin, began in early June and is slated to be finalized in July.

Tanah Abang Sub-district Water Resources (SDA) Executing Unit Head, Eli Menawan Sari stated that the channels are being normalized because they have narrowed and can no longer accommodate the water discharge, triggering floods during heavy rain.

"We are dismantling the old channels and replacing them with U-ditch concrete to make them easier to clean," she expressed, Monday (6/8).

She explained that the 150-meter-long drainage system is being upgraded with 40x40x120 cm U-ditch concrete.

"The project is being handled by a nine-member task force and is slated for completion this July," she added.

This project received appreciation from one of the residents from Jalan Karet Pasar Baru Barat II, RW 06 Karet Tengsin, Sulisto (43).

"Hopefully, this will effectively mitigate the recurring floods," she remarked.
