The South Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency is bracing for potential illegal parking and unauthorized charges during the Car Free Day (CFD) event within the Jalan HR Rasuna Said precinct, Setiabudi Sub-district.
South Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency Head, Bernad Octavianus Pasaribu said that while past CFD editions on Jalan HR Rasuna Said were safe and orderly, met with high public interest, certain obstacles still require attention—most notably parking management and unauthorized charges.
Motorbikes and cars continue to transit through several areas within the CFD precinct
"Motorbikes and cars continue to transit through several areas within the CFD precinct. Further, roadside parking has caused bottlenecks in the regular traffic movement," he noted, Friday (6/5).
He clarified that evaluation results indicate accessibility issues within Zone 1 (South Rasuna Said corridor, northbound) in the vicinity of the Malaysian Embassy and the Ministry of Health.
In his view, tailored access management is essential for national vital facilities and corporate zones. Additionally, curbing on-street parking in regular lanes adjacent to the CFD precinct needs to be more robust.
Meanwhile, in Zone 2—which encompasses Jalan Pedurenan and the Perbanas University area—the potential for illegal parking extortion was identified.
"We need to install additional barriers along Jalan Pedurenan and the Perbanas area to minimize potential violations," he explained
He added that in Zone 3—stretching from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Red and White Building area to Kuningan Madya—many vehicles belonging to CFD participants are still found parked around the event premises.
"We have noted that the provision of integrated parking zones is a primary requirement for CFD in the HR Rasuna Said corridor," he added.
He assured that his personnel would intensify cross-sectoral coordination with the local Parking Management Unit to reinforce the oversight of designated parking zones.
Bernad stated that the deployment of field personnel and the organization of parking sites would be further optimized for future CFD events.
"We hope that with meticulous preparation, the upcoming CFD can proceed successfully and seamlessly, free of any issues, particularly regarding parking," he emphasized.
Notably, the Jakarta administration has prepared 3,687 parking units surrounding the HR Rasuna Said Car Free Day zone to facilitate members of the public traveling in private transportation.
Available parking sites are located at Pasar Festival, Soemantri Brodjonegoro Sports Complex, Rasuna Epicentrum area, Setiabudi One, and Nyi Ageng Serang Building.
