Through sustained surveillance, the South Jakarta Food Security, Maritime, and Agriculture Sub-agency (KPKP) ensures that all food products in traditional and modern marketplaces remain safe for public consumption.

South Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency Head, Ida Masni noted that food surveillance measures have also been implemented at Lottemart Fatmawati, Pondok Labu Market, Foodmart Primo in Cilandak Town Square (Citos), Cipete Selatan Market, and Mede Market.

Every sample is certified safe

"We have performed inspections on 45 agricultural and livestock commodity samples. All specimens were tested on-site utilizing mobile laboratory units dedicated to agriculture and livestock," she expressed, Thursday (6/4).

She clarified that from the 45 samples examined, 35 were categorized as agricultural commodities and 10 as livestock.

"According to the results, every sample is certified safe, containing no traces of hazardous materials such as formaldehyde, pesticide residues, or signs of spoilage (Eber test)," she stated.

Further, Ida emphasized that rigorous food monitoring and inspection will be maintained periodically to ensure the integrity and safety of food items distributed in South Jakarta. She encouraged consumers to remain vigilant, advising them to scrutinize the physical attributes of food—specifically its color, scent, and texture—before making a purchase.

"Through routine food testing and increased public scrutiny when choosing products, it is hoped that we can avoid exposure to toxic substances and maintain optimal health standards," she stated.
